
The Bellevue College women’s basketball team got off to a fast start to North Region league play in the first quarter at Edmonds Community College last night and never let up, as the Bulldogs defeated the host Tritons 61-32. Bellevue jumped out 18-9 after the first quarter and led 41-14 at halftime. Bellevue took advantage of several Edmonds miscues as the Tritons had nearly 30 turnovers compared to BC’s 15.
The Bulldogs had a balanced attack led by sophomore Erin Hamilton who had 14 points and 7 rebounds. She was 7-for-11 from the field. Molly Dixon, who only scored 5 points, was a major contributor elsewhere on the floor with 8 steals and 6 assists.
Bellevue is now 1-0 in league and 9-5 overall. The Bulldogs host Skagit Valley this Saturday January 14 at 4:00 p.m. The game is expected to be an early showdown of two of the top teams in the region.
