Bellevue College baseball ran their win streak to 10 games with a four game sweep over Douglas. On Sat. Apr. 12 the Bulldogs swept visiting Douglas 2-1 and 8-0. In the opening nail-biter, the Bulldogs had to come from behind to win it on a wild pitch that scored Brandon McKinley in the bottom of the ninth, as the ‘dogs rallied from a 1-0 deficit. Noah Fields kept BC’s hopes alive with a single followed by a McKinley double. The Royals went to the bullpen, but the plan backfired as Bobby Trigg was intentionally walked, followed by a walk to Ollie Hogan to tie the game. With Drew De Cruz at the plate, the wild pitch enabled McKinley to cross with the game-winner. Terry Hayes tossed a no-hitter through four innings with no walks and six strikeouts. Ethan Thomas earned the win with two innings of one hit relief.

In the nightcap, Dylan Skolfield ran his record to 7-0 with six innings of three-hit ball with no walks and seven strikeouts. Catcher Zack Hudson led the offense with three hits, including two doubles. His second double of the game came in the four-run eighth which put the game away.

On Sun. Apr. 13, the Royals made the score look interesting, falling 8-6, after being shutdown by Tristan Aasland who fanned 11 with no walks and only one hit in seven innings of shutout ball. Douglas plated five runs in the ninth and had the tying run on base before Drew Welk coaxed a fly ball to Elliot Oster to end the threat. The Bulldogs jumped out 5-0 in the fifth as Zack Hudson doubled and Oster delivered with a two RBI hit. Tyson Schertenleib, back this weekend after a long recovery from an injury, went two-for-four with a double.

In the series finale, the ‘dogs blew the game open early with 11 runs in the first four innings, scoring in all four as Mason Goodson, spot starting for his first start on the mound since high school, combined with Jacob Gabler for the 11-1 win. The ‘dogs pounded out 15 hits as Bobby Trigg and Braeden Reese had three apiece. Gabler went three innings in relief for the save with six strikeouts, including five in a row to start off his outing, while surrendering only one hit and no walks.

Bellevue is now in first place in the North Region at 12-2 in league play and 23-11 overall. They host Shoreline this Sat. Apr. 19 at 1 p.m.
