

Bellevue College softball had the offense going in both games as the Bulldogs swept Pierce by scores of 24-7 and 10-2.
Bellevue put up nine runs to start the game off hot. Hallie Sehlin batted around the order and tripled in her first at bat, scoring Brooke Baker and Maddie Repp, then singled in her second at bat of the inning scoring Anna Fowler, who had a two RBI hit as well. Bellevue benefitted from four walks from Pierce’s Samantha Tungsvik to help generate the big first inning.
After a quieter two run second inning, BC put up 11 runs in the third as the Bulldogs had five extra base hits in the inning highlighted by Ryleigh Wotzka who tripled and doubled in the inning.
Sehlin had a whopping six RBI’s on four hits including two doubles and a triple. Riley Pirkle and Wotzka had four hits and three RBI’s while Fowler had six RBI’s as well on two triples.
In game two, the ‘dogs instead got off to a slow start, keeping a narrow 1-0 lead through three innings before putting up nine in the final three frames. Sehlin, who drove in the first run of the game to spot BC 1-0, got it going in the fourth with a single to lead things off and would later score on a single by Avery Grutz. Repp and Sehlin both doubled in the fifth to blow the game open. Brooke Baker went the distance in the circle surrendering only two hits and striking out nine Pierce batters, throwing 53 strikes out of 77 pitches. Repp went three for four while Sehlin had three RBI’s.
Bellevue is 2-0 in league play and 6-2 overall. Their next games are now Wed. Mar. 19 at Highline, as the Sun. Mar. 16 games at Douglas have been postponed due to inclement weather in the forecast.
