
Bellevue College men’s basketball’s Sawyer Cottrell tossed in 26 points, six rebounds, and dished out five assists in an all around solid performance, leading Bellevue to a 98-86 win at Olympic.
After a dead even first half which led to a 46-46 tie at halftime, the floodgates opened for the ‘dogs in the second half as they outscored the Rangers 52-40 to take home the win.
Along with Cotrell, Darek Usitalo helped propel the hot second half with a perfect seven for seven shooting along with five offensive boards (eight total in the second half) for 15 points.
The game was up for grabs until 10:31 remaining when Bellevue’s Usitalo drained a three pointer with 12:22 to go in the game to put BC up 64-63. Usitalo then scored two pivotal buckets in a 39 second span to put Bellevue up by nine, 77-68 which mushroomed into the easy win for BC.
Usitalo was a perfect 10 for 10 from the field and led the ‘dogs with 11 rebounds.
The road win keeps Bellevue in a tie for second place at 6-3 and will travel to Port Angeles for a Wed. Feb. 13 matchup at Peninsula. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
