Bellevue College men’s basketball built a 44-20 halftime lead to cruise to a 72-54 win over visiting Everett at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. The Bulldogs went back to the long range shooting, as they have done in the past, to build the big lead as they shot at a red hot 47% clip from three point range sinking eight of 17. While not a threat from the outside, Darek Usitalo was four-for-five from the field and contributed heavily with his seven rebounds in the half as the ‘dogs outrebounded the Trojans 20-10.
For a brief moment to start the game Everett looked to be the team who would run away with the win as they built an early 16-5 lead on a bucket but Henry Avra nearly midway through the first half. The Bulldogs then went on an incredible 18-0 run. Bellevue not only overtook the lead but turned it into a blowout as Max Mayo made two consecutive three balls to build a 38-18 lead with 3:08 to play in the half.
Everett failed to make any impact on the the halftime lead in the second half as the teams played evenly with Bellevue maintaining a comfortable double-digit lead for the entire half.
Usitalo finished with 19 points on seven-for-nine shooting and 10 rebounds; both game highs. Isaiah White chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds for Bellevue.
