Bellevue College women’s basketball played one of their fastest paced and highest scoring halves of the year in an 85-64 win over visiting Everett. Bellevue not only raced out to a 28-11 first quarter lead, but added on with a 23-10 second quarter to put BC up 51-21 at halftime.

Aysha Peter led BC in the controlling first quarter with a perfect three-for-three from three point range. In the second quarter, Sahara Soufi had the hot hand with the long ball going three-for-four from three point range for nine points in the quarter.

Although Everett managed to outscore Bellevue 43-35 in the second half, the ‘dogs had built enough of a cushioned lead making any Everett comeback seem unlikely.

The Bulldogs had a tremendous team effort as the entire starting five scored in double digits; a season-first for BC. Devynn Warns (17 points), Myana Calloway (15), Ghadir Ramadan (13), Soufi (12), and Peter (11) along with Sydney Stumpf led the scoring rampage. Stumpf was especially productive coming off the bench and shooting a perfect four-for-four from the field and grabbed four rebounds.

BC is now in a tie for third place (5-3 in league, 13-10 overall) and have a pivotal make up game this Mon. Feb. 10 at Olympic, who currently sits at second place at 6-2.
