Bellevue College women’s soccer held top-ranked Peninsula to only five total shots but the Pirates made the most of it with four shots on goal resulting in a 1-0 win.
Anya Gilbertson was brilliant in the box for Bellevue recording three saves but the Pirates found the back of the goal just one time which proved to be enough for the game winner.
Peninsula’s Kawai Bento scored early at 19:17 which proved to be the only score needed in the defensive battle. Karly Ellis of Bellevue had a chance to tie it getting a shot off on goal at 27:31 but Peninsula’s Alexandra Naill got the save.
In the second half, the BC opportunities continued late in the game as both Emerson Winn and Oteta Kitiona had shots but were stopped by Naill.
Although saddled with the loss, Bellevue will host the opening round playoff game on Wed. Nov. 6 against the East Region #3 seed.
