Bellevue College men’s soccer stayed with host Everett in the first half but fatigued as the Trojans’ offense took control to defeat the Bulldogs 6-3. While Everett only managed four shots in the second half, they cashed in on three as Everett turned seven shots on goal for the game into six goals.
After surrendering an early Everett goal just nine minutes into the game, BC struck back on an Ethan Lu to Santiago Vergara goal. Everett’s Cristiano Whitaker netted two quick goals at 25:3 and 28:53 to put Everett up 3-1 before a last second goal by Bellevue’s Derek Johnson at halftime. Vergara got another opportunity with a chance to tie it but was wide with the shot as BC headed into halftime down 3-2.
Johnson got BC back into it with a goal at 61:04, tying it up at 3-3, but the defense succumbed as the Trojans tacked on three goals to run away with the win.
Johnson was a perfect two-for-two on shots on goal to lead BC. Bellevue is now 5-6 in North Region play (6-7 overall) and will host league-leading Peninsula this Wed. Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. It will be Bellevue’s final home game as the sophomores will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony.
