
Bellevue College men’s soccer showed early signs that they expect to compete with the best tied with top-ranked Peninsula 2-2 at halftime, but fell short in a Pirate 5-3 win.
In an aggressive first half by both teams’ offense, fifteen total shots got off with Bellevue getting seven while Peninsula eight. Bellevue had Peninsula momentarily stunned jumping out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Bruno Cascante and Derek Johnson just 22 minutes into the game. The Pirates would battle back tying it with three minutes to go before halftime.
In the second half, Bellevue again took the lead on a Harry Powell goal at the 50:27 mark. The offensive spree then turned Peninsula’s way with a tying goal at 60:30 followed by two late goals near the end of play to give Peninsula the home win.
The Pirates kept the pressure on Bellevue ‘keeper Mason Duarte all day, getting 12 shots on goal in the game while outshooting BC 12-5 in the second half.
Bellevue falls into fourth place in the North Region at 3-3 (4-4 overall). They travel to Edmonds next Wed. Oct. 9 for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
