Bellevue College baseball swept their first weekend series of the year by topping Shoreline by scores of 10-3 and 9-5 on Saturday before 10-0 and 7-5.
In the opener, Gabe Villaflor had two RBI’s and was three for five at the plate to lead the Bulldogs as Micah Hagler went seven innings without giving up an earned run. His lone run surrendered came by way of an errant pick off throw to set up Shoreline’s only run off him in the sixth. Bellevue was in control early plating seven runs in the second and third innings collectively.
In the Saturday nightcap, the offense rallied for five runs in the final two innings as Tyson Schertenleib and Ollie Hogan had two out singles before TJ Armstrong delivered a big blow triple. Bellevue added two more in the eighth on a Drew De La Cruz double and Brandon McKinley sacrifice fly.
In Sunday’s opening 10-0 win, Tristan Aasland tossed his second shutout in a row for six innings before giving way to JT Rican who threw the final two innings in a game ending early due to the run-limit rule. De la Cruz was four for five while Bryan Sfanos had three hits.
In game four, Schertenleib led BC’s offense with three hits. Shoreline staged a late rally by plating two runs in the ninth but fell short. De La Cruz, McKinley, and Villaflor each had two hits.
Bellevue moves to 8-4 and in second place in the North Region. They take on first place and undefeated Everett this weekend. On Sat. April 20, the Trojans visit Bellevue for a 1 p.m. first pitch before the two teams play two more times the next day at Everett Memorial Stadium.
