Visiting Peninsula College’s offense was overwhelming as Bellevue College women’s soccer could not get the defensive stops in a 4-1 loss. The home game, which was the final one for the BC sophomores, showed signs early that Peninsula’s offense was going to be difficult to manage, as the Pirates got two shots on goal in the opening five minutes of play.

Although fired off 10 shots in the first half, the Pirates were up only 1-0 at halftime. Peninsula’s defense then became as tenacious as their offense, outshooting the Bulldogs 16 (including 12 on goal) – four for the game, including a six to one advantage in the second half.

Evee Augustine got BC on the board to cut the lead to 2-1 on an assist by Tanah Huffines, but Peninsula added two more without any Bellevue threat on the other side of the field.

Bellevue’s sophomores who were honored with a pre-game ceremony were: Zirce Valeriano-Reyes, Jolie Widaman, Evee Augustine, Mia Gagnon, Kes Smith, Daisy Morris, Rhys Cannava, Tanah Huffines, and Payton Pine.

Bellevue is 6-3-2 in league play (7-3-3 overall) and are holding on to the North #3 seed with one final regular season game to go at Edmonds next Wednesday Oct. 25. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
