Bulldogs Women’s Soccer Tops Whatcom

Evee Augustine

Bellevue College women’s soccer put on an offensive fireworks display as the Bulldogs netted nine goals in a 9-4 win over host Whatcom. The two teams scored eight goals between them in the first half alone as BC took a 5-3 lead at halftime.

Bellevue wasted no time as Kayleigh Acree and Rhys Cannava found the back of the net within the first five minutes of the game to put the Bulldogs on top 2-0. Acree would add another two goals near the midway mark in the first half before Whatcom would answer with a pair of goals shortly thereafter.

Evee Augustine scored on an assist by Giulia Menning four minutes into the second half before Whatcom would answer back at the 53:07 mark. With the score 6-4 and the Orcas within reach, Bellevue then put it away with three goals late in the game as Galila Abeye, Daisy Morris, and Macie Masterson joined in on the scoring spree with goals to give Bellevue the 9-4 lead.

Bellevue is 1-0 in North Region play with the opening win and 2-0-1 overall. They travel to Skagit Valley this Saturday Sept. 9 for a noon kickoff.
