Men’s Soccer Win Two To Open ’23 Campaign

Bellevue College men’s soccer got off to a hot start and gave first-year Head Coach John Buttle an undefeated record to start off the year by going 2-0 at the season-opening NWAC Friendlies at Starfire Complex in Tukwila, WA.

Bellevue won on Tuesday August 22 3-0 over Wenatchee Valley. The Bulldogs scored all three goals in the first half with two of them coming in the opening 20 minutes as Ernesto Arevalo connected with Johan Gaytan who scored at the 18:24 mark before Atsuki Aoyama added a second goal ten minutes later. Parfait Ngandu added BC’s third and final goal at the 34:00 mark. Jackson Buck recorded the shutout in the box for the ‘dogs with five saves.

Bellevue then defeated North Idaho 3-1 in a game won by Bellevue’s defense which allowed only five total shots, including only two in the second half as BC rallied from a 1-0 deficit. Patrick Gloria tied the game at the start of the second half before the game would go on tied 1-1 for the next 30 minutes until Bellevue broke loose on a goal by Ali Alzeer at 77:00. The late goal then fueled an insurance goal by Bellevue’s Rex Noffsinger four minutes later to lock the win.

The Bulldogs have an exhibition game this Saturday Aug. 26 at 9 a.m. vs. the Seattle Sounders U17 team at Bellevue.
