Baseball Splits Pierce Series

Rylen Bayne

Bellevue College baseball split a four game series this weekend against Pierce. The two teams each won a game Saturday at Courter Field with BC taking game one 11-1 before Pierce claimed game two 2-1. Ryan Lynch struck out nine and walked none in the win with Evan Holman and Ryker Fortier each collecting three hits. Pierce rallied for a two-out pinch hit RBI in the ninth to win game two.

On Sunday, the teams split in the same order, with Bellevue coming out on top 7-5 before falling 7-6 on a walkoff single in the ninth. Jack Rhea singled home Rylen Bayne to spark a three-run eighth as Bayne closed the door on Pierce on the mound in the Bulldog win. In game two, the ‘dogs scored three in the top of the ninth and felt safe with a 6-3 lead before Pierce took advantage of two leadoff walks coupled with an error and two hits with two outs to stun the Bulldogs and split the series. Nainoa Nall had three hits while Konnor Sutton and Henry Hess had two apiece.

Bellevue will host Spokane and Mount Hood this weekend in a three-team round robin set at Courter Field on Saturday and Sunday March 18-19.
