Bellevue and host Whatcom men’s soccer battled to a 2-2 tie yesterday with both teams answering each other in the second half in one of the most competitive games of the year so far.
With both teams in the hunt for playoff berths, the game was a story of answer backs as Whatcom got on the board first with a goal seven minutes into the second half. BC quickly responded a mere 25 seconds later on an unassisted goal by Nicolas Sanchez.
Bellevue then took the lead 2-1 on a solo goal by Thomas Nguyen at 69:38. Then it was Whatcom’s turn for a quick answer, scoring less than a minute later to tie the game.
Bellevue was outshot 14-6 but managed to keep the Orcas in check all game.
BC is now 5-3-3 (6-3-3 overall) and will travel to Mount Vernon this Wednesday for a 4:15 matchup against Skagit Valley. The contest is a critical one as the Bulldogs are a game behind Skagit in the North Region standings.
