Bellevue College women’s golf shot a two-day total of 524 to finish second to North Idaho at the NWAC League Match hosted by Skagit Valley College at Avalon Golf Course in Burlington, WA. The Bulldogs finished 11 strokes behind the Cardinals as North Idaho stayed in check in round two as they refused to allow BC to gain any ground on closing day.
Bellevue did have one huge bright spot as they took home both medalist and runner-up honors in the individual scoring as Sarah Lawrence went low on day two shooting a 79 to win the title. Teammate Tia Wolcott, who led after day one with an 82, slipped to an 85 on day two but still edged out Spokane’s Courtney Stratton by a stroke to give Bellevue the 1-2 finish.
Lawrence got off to a hot start, birdieing two of her first five holes but lost momentum playing bogey golf for the next seven holes. She then regained form by shooting one-over to close out her round for a strong finish.
Mayah Park rounded out Bellevue’s scoring with rounds of 97-96 to finish 17th overall.
