After winning every tournament they were in last year, the Bellevue College Bulldogs men’s golf team has picked up right where they left off, charging from three back to take the Pacific Lutheran Invitational at The Home Course in DuPont. Bellevue shot a blistering 1-under on Monday to take the title away from host PLU, who shot 7-over on day two after holding a three-stroke lead.
Tyler Spalti was on fire all day and shot 5-under 67 for the low round of the day to lead Bellevue’s charge. Spalti’s birdie surge was just short of earning medalist honors, finishing at 2-under for the tourney, two strokes behind medalist Alex Knox of Whitman. Bulldog freshman Dalton Dean finished third overall at 1-under with rounds of 72-71 while Dallon Bennett shot 73-75 to finish tied for eighth overall. Christian Taylor rounded out BC’s team scoring with rounds of 78-74.
The season opening win was also the first career win for new Head Coach Sandy Vaughan this fall.
The Bulldogs will return to the Home Course this Friday September 24 for the St. Martin’s Invitational.
