Men’s Basketball Takes Down Skagit Valley

Bellevue College men’s basketball had the hot hand in the pivotal second half as the Bulldogs’ 53% shooting clip helped propel them to a 71-63 win tonight in Mount Vernon. The win was also Bellevue’s first game in over two weeks due to covid-quarantine issues. O’Landa Baker was 7-for-11 in the second half with 5 rebounds to lead the way for Bellevue. The ‘dogs shot over 40% from three-point range while Skagit Valley labored all night from long distance making only 18%.

While leading for most of the game, Skagit Valley tied it up with a little over 13 minutes to go on a three-pointer by Anthony Iglesia which knotted the game at 39. Baker responded after an exchange of buckets with a three-pointer as Bellevue re-claimed the lead it would not relinquish the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs are 8-3 and are in control of taking the North Region title with only a few games left to go in the abbreviated 2021 season. The squad hosts Peninsula this Monday on Memorial Day at 4:15 p.m.
