Bellevue College men’s basketball cruised to a 79-66 win at Whatcom last night. O’Landa Baker’s 23 points led the Bulldogs as his hot hand in the second half, shooting 5-for-8 including 2-for-3 from three point range, kept BC with a comfortable lead after going up 39-27 at halftime.
BC used a balanced attack in the first half shooting 50% as Maui Sze and Baker paced the ‘dogs with 14 and 9 points respectively. Ben Oleson, coming off the bench, provided a spark defensively with 4 steals.
In the second half, neither team caught fire as the two squads played relatively even for the entire 20:00. The Orcas got to within seven at 49-42 at the 12:12 mark but a missed three point attempt followed by a Kai Warren rebound and a quick four points from Terrell Peter put BC up by eleven, 53-42 to keep Whatcom at a distance the rest of the way.
Bellevue is now 6-3 and travels to Skagit Valley Wednesday May 12 for a key matchup against the first place Cardinals at 7:15 p.m.
