Maui Sze’s hot hand last night was not enough as the visiting Whatcom Orcas came back from a 16-point deficit in the second half and took down the Belllevue College Bulldogs 75-71 at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. Sze was 9-for-13 from the field including a blistering 7-for-11 from three-point range, leading BC with 25 points.
With 10:43 left in the second half, Terrell Peter’s jump shot put the Bulldogs up 66-50 in what appeared to be a runaway victory for Bellevue. Whatcom would chip away with 6:56 left and would outscore the Bulldogs 16-0 to steal a win. BC was 0-for-9 in the final minutes and could not break the streak of cold shooting that haunted them late in the game.
Sze also led Bellevue with 8 assists. O’Landa Baker added 14 points and 7 assists while Isaiah Dunn had 11 rebounds. The stunning win for Whatcom was their first of the year while Bellevue dropped to 4-2 on the season. The Bulldogs host Peninsula next Wednesday April 28 at 7:15 p.m.
