
Bellevue College volleyball continued their hot streak in NWAC North Region play with a 3-0 sweep over host Olympic last night in Bremerton. The Bulldogs controlled every facet of the match from set one winning 25-20 and 25-12 in the first two.
In set three, Olympic gave Bellevue a small scare early on rallying for two straight points on attack errors to go up 7-5 and was down 18-17 before the ‘dogs pulled away with the win. Zaiah Luna-Calvin closed it out with a kill on a set by Dyamonde Schirmer to end set three 25-21.
Luna-Calvin was strong and efficient up front with 18 kills and only 4 attack errors. She also had 10 digs. Yaneli Garcia was five for eight in kills and had two block assists to aid the cause as well.
Bellevue is now atop the North Region at 4-0 (20-7 overall) along with Whatcom. The two teams will square off in the Bulldogs’ next match Wednesday October 9 on Bellevue’s home court with a 7:00 p.m. first serve set at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion.
