Baseball Takes Two Over Douglas; Games 3 & 4 Postponed Until Tuesday

Battling through bouts of heavy rain and wind gusts throughout the day, Bellevue College baseball was able to grind out two ugly wins over Douglas College yesterday by scores of 12-11 and 7-5 at Issaquah High School. The ‘dogs needed extra innings in the first game after blowing a large lead due to walks by BC pitchers. Bellevue came out on fire, scoring seven runs in the first two innings highlighted by a mammoth home run by Kye Seitz into the trees in right field. After four consecutive walks, Douglas greeted Bellevue reliever Jared Maxfield with a grand slam home run to tie the game at 9-9 before Bellevue answered right back with another homer; this time by Lukas Motta, putting BC up 11-9. The Bulldogs were one out away from victory in regulation until an error game Douglas new life, allowing the Royals to tie the game again at 11 in the ninth. In the tenth, Douglas elected to issue consecutive intentional walks to Carter Wallace and Jake Terao to load the bases with two outs. Al Aurelio delivered a 2-2 pitch up the middle for the walk-off winner.

In the night cap, Aurelio continued his clutch hitting with two more hits along with scoring two runs as starter Eric Anderson went six innings to get the win on the mound. Anderson is now 3-1-1 on the year.

Bellevue’s doubleheader at Douglas was rained out today and will be made up this Tuesday April 9 at 1:00 p.m. in Surrey, B.C.
