Men’s Basketball Rebounds From Opener With Win Over Blue Mountain

Although the theme of losing momentum after the first half was evident again for the second day in a row, this time the Bellevue College Bulldogs were able to hold onto a lead in a 60-55 win over Blue Mountain (OR) at the Pierce Thanksgiving Tourney on Saturday. Bellevue held a commanding 34-16 lead at intermission which was enough for the Bulldogs to prevail.

Ting-Jhao Jian continued his level of consistency from the season opener with high efficiency shooting. The sophomore guard was a lights out 10-for-14 from the field en route to a team-high 26 point night. Curtis Walker, who struggled to find the hot hand shooting in the season opener, bounced back and contributed in different fashion by leading the ‘dogs with 10 rebounds.

Bellevue gave Blue Mountain every chance they could to not only get back into the game but take victory as the Timberwolves continued to get second chances on offense by outrebounding the Bulldogs offensively 24-3. Blue Mountain got the game to within three at 58-55 with 12 seconds left as a quick foul by the Timberwolves’ Dylan Grogan put Bellevue’s Andrew Shaw to the line. The freshman calmly sank both to seal the win.

Bellevue is now 1-1 on the year and plays a consolation game today for third place a 10:00 a.m. vs. Green River.
