Bellevue College softball won two games in convincing fashion over visiting Skagit Valley College yesterday. The Bulldogs won the opener 15-0 and 12-4 in game two.
In the opening game, Cierra Barkis had a mammoth day with 2 home runs and 6 RBI’s while going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. While Barkis was doing damage at the top of the order batting leadoff, Brianna Attwood in the eight hole went 3-for-3 with 4 RBI’s and also hit a home run. Bellevue put together scoring in every inning and blew the game open with a 7-run fourth inning. The game ended after five innings due to the run mercy rule. Ciera Lockwood ran her record to 17-2 by scattering 4 hits in the shutout in the circle for Bellevue.
In the nightcap, Barkis continued her hitting spree with another 2 hits, going 2-for-3 with 3 runs and 3 RBI’s. Rachel Delamare was the power supplier in game two, going 3-for-4 with 6 RBI’s and 2 home runs. She now has 8 homers on the year. Cassidy Mast and Tinerra “Bubs” Adams each had 2 hits apiece as well. Rayne Sylvester and Payton Gibbs split the pitching duties each going just over 2 innings in yet another BC game that ended early due to the run mercy rule.
Bellevue continues their torrid pace towards a record season as the team remains ranked #1 in the NWAC Coaches’ Poll and sits atop the North Region with a 33-6 (14-2 league) record. Bellevue plays at Everett at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 10.
