
After holding on to a close lead after one quarter, the Bellevue College women’s basketball team gradually pulled away from host Edmonds last night in an 83-57 win. The blowout didn’t come until the final quarter, as BC’s defense shut down Edmonds with a 22-9 run.
Shelby Kassuba had one of her best nights of the season with a dominating 30 point effort. Kassuba’s touch from the outside was also a factor, as she drained a perfect 3-for-3 from three point range. For the night, Kassuba was 12-of-20 from the field, 3-for-4 from the free throw line and led BC with 4 steals as well. Mikayla Jones was also hot from the outside making 6-of-10 from three point range for 25 points.
Head Coach Mel Stubblefield continued to increase his depth by utilizing his bench as twelve players saw action.
The Bulldogs host Peninsula in a key matchup this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Peninsula, the defending NWAC champions, have another championship-caliber squad as the game is anticipated as one of the marquee matchups of the night in NWAC basketball. The Bulldogs are now 3-1 in league and 13-4 overall. Peninsula is entering the game with a 4-0 league record.
