Bulldogs Take Lead in North

Hosting at home, Bellevue Bulldogs volleyball, now 5-0 in league and 17-6 overall, defeated the Olympic Rangers to take the lead in the North Region Friday, Oct. 4, winning in three 25-18, 25-17 and 25-18. Libero Madison Agnew led the Bulldogs with five aces in the match, followed by setter Krista Groves with two. The Bulldog offense was led by outside hitter Laura Friar with 15 kills, followed closed by outside hitter Kylai Cooley with 11. Middle blockers Darian Foley and Emina Dodic added five and four kills, respectively, in the match. The Bulldogs defense was led by Friar with two blocks, with Dodic and right side Samantha Minnig blocking 1.5 each. Agnew led the Bulldogs with 14 digs, to which defensive specialist Macie Cross added 11, and Cooley,10. Groves had 35 assists on the night.

Bellevue’s head coach Kim Culliton said, “We had an inspiring practice on Thursday before our match against Olympic. The girls really committed to working hard, improving as individuals and as a team to accomplish their individual and team goals. They have a lot of fun when they play that way, so hopefully we can keep that focus and that intensity and just continue to improve.”

Friar and Agnew were both named North Region Player of Week #3 for offensive and defensive positions, respectively; and Groves was named North Region Setter of the Week, as well as NWAACC Setter of the Week for Week #4.

The Bulldogs are back in action again at home Wednesday, Oct. 10, against the Shoreline Dolphins at 7 p.m.
