Bulldogs Defeat the Cardinals

The Bulldogs traveled to Mount Vernon on Wednesday, Oct. 3, to take on the Skagit Valley College Cardinals volleyball team. Bellevue won in three games 25-22, 25-21 and 25-15. Bulldogs outside hitter Kylai Cooley and setter Krista Groves had five and four aces, respectively, in the match. Outside hitter Laura Friar led the Bulldogs offense with 20 kills, followed by middle blocker Darian Foley with eight and Cooley with seven. Middle blocker Emina Dodic and right side Samantha Minnig added five each for the Bulldogs. The defense was led by Libero Madison Agnew with 19 digs in the match, and Cooley had eight. Groves had 39 assists.

With the win over Skagit Valley, Bellevue’s record is 4-0 league, 16-6 overall season. Next up, the Bulldogs host the Olympic College Rangers (4-0 league, 16-5 overall) on Friday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m.

In conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, BC’s volleyball team is joining the fight with Dig Pink during the month of October. Breast cancer has affected many people around the world. With increased awareness and education great strides have been made to prevent breast cancer and it’s devastating affects. For Dig Pink, the Bulldogs will be wearing pink headbands and ribbons to show their support, and collecting donations at all five of their home volleyball games during the month of October. Dig Pink helps empower women to take charge of their breast health by helping to erase the stigma surrounding the disease and supporting those who are fighting breast cancer.
