BC Baseball Places Seven on All-North Region First Team

Bellevue College repeated the same number of players named to the First Team All-North Region baseball team as last year, with a league-high seven players named to that list. As co-champions of the North Region with Everett, both teams had strong candidates for league MVP. Bellevue’s Colin Hering and Adrian Sampson in addition to Everett’s Ryan Sells were on the ballot. In a closely contested vote that required a re-vote to break a tie, Sells topped Hering by one vote. Hering nevertheless was a unanimous selection as utility player. Sampson was a repeat first team selection as was Tyler Baumgartner who earned first team honors along with center fielder Max Brown. Brown’s high school teammate Dustin Breshears was a unanimous selection at second base for the Bulldogs. The two Mount Si HS graduates were the only Bellevue freshmen to earn honors. Jerad Casper, a second team selection in 2011, earned first team honors at third base. Jonathan Humphrie, who earned MVP honors for the North Region in basketball, was a unanimous selection as the league’s top relief pitcher. Matt Cooper, who was injured for part of league play, was named to the second team.  Breshears was also the lone Bellevue representative on the Gold Glove Team.
