Bellevue Takes Three From Shoreline

The Bellevue baseball team earned three more wins the weekend of April 14 and 15, after another four-game series, this time with the Shoreline CC Dolphins. On Saturday, the Bulldogs played host under the sun at Courter Field. With over fifteen professional scouts on hand and perfect baseball weather, the Bulldogs looked sharp.

In game one, Bellevue cruised to an 18-0 victory in just five innings due to the 10-run rule. The Bellevue offense exploded for 12 hits led by Tyler Baumgartner’s 3-4 game including a walk, two doubles, four RBIs, and Colin Hering going 2-3 highlighted by his second home run of the season to straight-away center field and five RBIs. Matt Cooper earned the win allowing just one hit over four innings of work, and Jonathan Humphrie completed the shutout working the fifth.

In Saturday’s second game, Bellevue’s Adrian Sampson recorded his league-leading seventh win, improving to 7-0 on the season. His 11 outs upped his total to 69 on the year, also a league high. In the 6-1 win, Bellevue scored six runs on 14 hits, with three hits each from outfielder Marc Dickerson and catcher Brady Kerr.

On Sunday, Shoreline took over as the home team at Meridian Park located in Shoreline. In game three of the series, Shoreline was able to cruise to a 5-0 defeat of the Bulldogs. Bellevue’s Bryan Burgher suffered the loss and the Bulldogs’ offense was stymied to just two hits in the game. The Bulldogs were able to regroup for game four as sophomore pitcher Jeff Gonzales took the team on his back. Gonzales tossed eight innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run. Baumgartner and infielder Dustin Breshears each had three hits in the 5-2 win for Bellevue.

The weekend series marks the halfway point for league play. With three series left to play, the Bulldogs currently sit in second place with a league record of 10-2 (24-5 overall) behind Everett CC (8-0, 16-5), who is slated next on Bellevue’s schedule. Saturday, April 21, the Bulldogs will be home with a 1:00 doubleheader, and on Sunday, Bellevue will travel to Everett Memorial Stadium for a 1:00 twin bill.
