BC Baseball Sweeps Weekend

On Saturday March 17, the Bellevue College baseball team earned two wins over the Centralia Blazers. In game one, Bryan Burgher earned the win tossing six scoreless innings allowing just three hits while striking out four. The offense scattered 10 hits including two hits each from sophomore Jerad Casper and freshman Brady Kerr. The Bulldogs went on to win the game 7-2.

 In game two, UW transfer Jeff Gonzales was lights out throwing seven scoreless innings while striking out nine Blazer hitters. Casper added two more hits on the day including a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh en route to a 7-0 win for the Bulldogs 

On Sunday, Bellevue’s Courter Field hosted its first home game of the season as the visiting Tacoma Titans headed north for the double header. Bellevue jumped on the back of Adrian Sampson who allowed just one run in seven innings of work highlighted by 12 strikeouts in a pitcher’s duel. With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Bulldogs outfielder Dae Lee delivered the go-ahead RBI. Jonathan Humphrie shut the door in the eighth and ninth innings earning the save in the 2-1 victory.

In the final game of the weekend, the Bellevue bats came out putting up 11 runs on 18 hits. Dustin Breshears, Tyler Baumgartner, and Max Brown had three hits each, and Hawaii-bound sophomore Scott Kuzminsky picked up the win tossing 4 2/3 scoreless innings in relief. The game ended 11-4 in favor of Bellevue.

The Bulldogs are back in action for a doubleheader Thursday March 22, traveling to Yakima Valley for games rescheduled due to snowy field conditions. You can follow the team at www.pointstreak.com.
