BC Volleyball Ties For Second in North; On to NWAACC Tournament

The Bellevue Bulldogs volleyball team hosted the Shoreline Dolphins Tuesday, Nov. 8, in a battle for the title in the North Region, and seeding at the upcoming NWAACC Volleyball Championship Tournament. It was also sophomore recognition night for Bellevue, and sophomore Jessicca Weitman (East Valley, Spokane) was acknowledged in the pre-game ceremony. Unfortunately, that turned out to be the highlight of the evening as the Bulldogs were then defeated by the Dolphins in four: 25-23, 15-25, 20-25 and 19-25. With this loss, Bellevue finished the regular season 7-3 league, 20-11 overall, and tied for second with the Olympic Raiders at 7-3, 13-18.

Outside hitter Laura Friar led Bellevue with 25 kills followed by outside hitter Lauren Zilke and right side Sammy Minnig with seven each. Sophomore Weitman and Minnig both had two blocks in the match. The Bulldog defense was led by Libero Morgan de Carteret with 30 digs, and Friar’s 21.

The Bulldogs are in action next at the NWAACC Volleyball Championship Tournament hosted by Mt. Hood November 17-20 in Gresham, Oregon. Bellevue’s first match is against East Region’s Blue Mountain (11-3, 27-11), at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17.
