Bellevue Reloads With New Signees

New Bellevue Head Coach Tao Shen hopes for a changing of the tides for the Bellevue men’s soccer program. A new coaching staff brings what he believes is a new culture to this program; with a demand in academic achievement for student-athletes. “Our goal is for players to receive a solid education and perform well academically in order for them to move on to the 4-year level after one or two years at Bellevue,” commented the Head Coach Tao Shen. After coming off a quarter-final loss last year and a record of 12-5-2, the returning athletes are eager to work hard to make sure history does not repeat. However, it will be with a new group as the Bulldogs are losing key players from last year’s team. The coaching staff and players have been working hard to solidify the core for fall during the spring season. “There will be a new group that will suit up in fall for us. We are eager to see how our recruits will mesh and what they can bring to the team,” commented Shen. “Chemistry is key in soccer, especially for a two-year school. The key word we are instilling in our players is ‘Family’. There were quite a few talented players who came out during our open field tryouts. However, we really need further evaluation to see who is going to be good fit for fall. “It’s always hard to make cuts,” admits Shen. “But I like the group that we are keeping around. We are also inviting a few back so they can work on their injuries and fitness during the off-season.”
