For the seventh consecutive year, the Bellevue College women’s tennis team claimed the NWAACC Women’s Tennis Championship title, with head coach Jason Chapman named the NWAACC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year. Under coach Chapman’s leadership, Bellevue women’s tennis has now claimed the most consecutive wins, besting Green River’s six under the late Steve Sauers (1992-1997).
Bellevue won eight of the nine individual titles, scoring 141 points in the three-day tournament and out-scoring second place Spokane by 43 points. The only match Bellevue lost was women’s #1 singles when freshman Anissa Bryant-Swift lost to defending singles champion Lindsey Newman (Skagit Valley). Newman defeated Bryant-Swift (BC) 6-3, 6-4. Bryant-Swift won the doubles title with teammate Erica Leong.
