The Bulldog softball team wrapped up the regular season this past weekend sweeping both Douglas College and Skagit Valley to finish the year with a 24-0 record in North Region play and a 35-1 overall record.
On Friday, May 13, the Bulldogs beat Douglas by scores of 8-1 and 8-0. Danielle Orvella picked up the win in games one, and Rogin Hardy picked up the win in game two.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs finished the season playing at the UW Husky Softball stadium. It was a great way to finish to the year as the Bulldogs beat Skagit Valley by scores of 8-0 and 10-1. Breonna Chrisman picked up the win in game one while Orvella claimed the win in game two. Tobey Varney led off game one with a solo home run and Haylee Baker added a home run in game two as the Bulldog bats stayed hot all day.
“It was a great weekend for the team, and a great way to cap off a very impressive season for this group,” stated head coach Leah Francis. “I am so proud of all they have accomplished this year, both as individuals and as a team. We are excited for the next challenge coming up at the NWAACC Championships.”
By winning the North Region, the Bulldogs earn a #1 seed into the NWAACC Championships, May 19-23 at Delta Park in Portland. The Bulldogs face off against the #4 seed from the West Region, Centralia on Friday, May 20, with the first pitch scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
