The Bellevue College softball team won all four of their games the weekend of April 16-17 at the NWAACC Crossover Tournament in Selah. The Bulldogs were impressive as they outscored their opponents 49-8 over the four games and held their opponents scoreless in 22 of the 25 innings they played.
In game one on Saturday, Bellevue beat Yakima Valley CC by a score of 14-5. Danielle Orvella got the win as the Bulldogs pounded out 13 hits in the game. Tobey Varney, Rogin Hardy, Emily Guluarte, Emily Squiers and Nicole Rogers all hit doubles, while Haylee Baker hit a solo home run in the effort.
Game number two on Saturday saw the Bulldogs offensive explosion continue as they beat Chemeketa CC 16-0. Hardy threw a two-hit shutout to get the win. The Bulldogs were led offensively by Kristen Allen who had a double and two home runs in the game. Breanna Wilson hit a double, while Hardy slammed a double, then added a triple for good measure. Varney, Baker and Rogers all hit homers in the winning effort.
The Bulldogs were matched up against perennial powerhouse from the South Region, Lower Columbia CC, for their third and final game on Saturday. Bellevue’s bats remained hot as they scored 11 runs on 13 hits en route to an 11-0 victory. Leading the effort was Allen who belted her third home run of the day. On the mound, Chrisman dominated as she held LC scoreless and struck out nine in the winning effort.
On Sunday, the Bulldogs played one game, beating Spokane CC 8-3 to finish perfect on the weekend. Chrisman threw six innings of scoreless ball to pick up the win. Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by 4-hit efforts from Nellie Root and Hardy.
The Bulldogs, now 6-0 league and 17-1 on the season, return to league play with road games this week at Olympic College (1-3, 3-6) on Wednesday, April 20, then and at Skagit Valley College (0-4, 1-7) in Mount Vernon on Saturday, April 23. The Bulldogs return to home action against Edmonds on Tuesday, April 26.
