Bulldogs Softball Team Sweeps Shoreline, Stays Undefeated in League Play

On Friday, April 8, the Bulldogs swept Shoreline CC in a match-up of two previously undefeated softball teams in the NWAACC North Region.

In game one, the Bulldogs took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back on their way to a 7-2 victory. Breonna Chrisman threw six innings, giving up just two runs on two hits to get the win. Rogin Hardy finished the game in the seventh, shutting out Shoreline to seal the victory. Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by Emily Guluarte and Emily Squiers who both had two doubles and multiple RBIs in the first game.

Game two was a seesaw battle until the Bulldogs erupted for six runs in the sixth inning to put the game away 11-5. Shoreline took an early 1-0 lead in the first, and Bellevue countered with their own run to tie the game. The Dolphins scored two more in the third and one more in the fourth to retake the lead. The Bulldogs responded in the fourth, scoring four runs of their own to take a 5-4 lead. The lead was short-lived as Shoreline battled back to tie it in the top of the sixth, before the offensive explosion by the Bulldogs scoring six runs of their own to put the game away. Offensively, BC was led by Tobey Varney, who had a three-run homerun in the fourth to tie the game and Breanna Wilson, who had a big three-run homer in the sixth to seal the win for Bellevue. Kristen Allen, Hardy, and Squiers all had multiple hits in the game and Chrisman picked up her second win of the day from the mound.

The Bulldogs, now 4-0 in North Region Play, and 11-1 overall, take on Douglas (3-1, 4-2) in a North Region home contest on Tuesday, April 12. The doubleheader will start at 2 p.m. and games will be played at BC’s home field on campus. Bellevue will then take to the road for a 24-team Crossover Tournament in Yakima (Selah), April 16-17.
