Matt Cooper Fans 10 as Bellevue Sweeps Edmonds Series 4-0 with a 14-4 Win

Freshman right-hander Matt Cooper struck out a season-high ten batters in his seven-inning stint en route to a 14-4 win over visiting Edmonds. The win gave Bellevue a 4-0 sweep over Edmonds to open up North Region play. Edmonds didn’t waste time by putting up a run in the first inning before the Bulldogs answered back with three runs in the bottom of the first on doubles by Kyle Conwell and Tyler Baumgartner. Kyle Johnson hit his seventh home run of the year in the fourth as Bellevue widened the lead to 7-2. Andy Smith hit his fourth home run, a line drive over center field for a three-run home run for more insurance runs. Bellevue added three more in the eighth inning on an RBI single by pinch-hitter Marc Dickerson and a bases-loaded walk to Conwell which ended the game due to the 10-run mercy rule. Bellevue takes on Shoreline CC this weekend for a four-game series that begins at Bellevue Saturday April 9 at 1PM. Games three and four of the series will be played the following day at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle, home field for Shoreline.
