After finishing up the regular season, Bellevue College men’s soccer team entered the NWAACC playoffs with an 8-4-1 record. Their first playoff match was against Spokane November 10 at Sammamish HS. BC’s captain Josh Guerrero scored in the 9th minute on an assist by Race Sciabica to give the Bulldogs an early lead. Josh Strasser scored two goals of his own in the 44th minute and 60th minute, assisted by Devin Mendiola and Sciabica, respectively. Bellevue’s defense played tremendously as they shutout Spokane 3-0 and moved on to the second round of the playoffs.
On November 13, the Bulldogs came up against Shoreline in the second round. It was a tightly contested match as both teams fought hard to stay alive and move on. Hard and aggressive play was evidenced by five total yellow cards in the game. Though the Bulldogs were determined, it wasn’t enough and Shoreline came up with a 1-0 victory to advance to the semi-finals.
The loss concludes the Bulldogs’ season with an 8-4-1 league record, 12-5-2 overall season. “We played great all year and had some ups and downs,” said head coach Sasha Shefts, “It’s just unfortunate our season has to end now.”
CONGRATULATIONS TO BC MEN’S SOCCER Sophomore Josh Strasser who made the NWAACC Soccer All-Star Team for the Southwest Region Men.
