Men’s Soccer Drops One; Ties One

In the past week, Bulldogs men’s soccer played November 3 and 6 against Peninsula and Highline, respectively. Both matches were played well, but were low-scoring unlike other matches throughout the course of the season.

Facing Peninsula, the Bulldogs found themselves down early as they were scored on only three minutes into the match. Bellevue fought hard to keep the damage to a minimum, but was overmatched in the first half. BC’s Race Sciabica, assisted by Esteban Reyes, scored in the 40th minute, but heading into halftime, the Bulldogs remained in a 3-1 hole. Sciabica came back to score again 79th minute, this time assisted by Josh Guerrero. In the end, however, Bellevue dropped the match 3-2.

The Bulldogs had a chance to bounce back the following Saturday, facing Highline at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, but could manage only a 2-2 tie. Highline proved to be a formidable challenge as the two teams traded goals throughout the match. BC’s Edgar Esquivel, assisted by Devin Mendiola, scored in the 8th minute in response to an early Highline goal. Sciabica then scored Bellevue’s second goal in the 30th minute with an assist from Guerrero, but despite some good looks, the match ended at 2-2 with neither team scoring in the second half.

Bellevue men (8-4-1, 11-4-2) start their NWAACC playoff run at home Wednesday, November 10, beginning at 6 PM at Sammamish High School against Spokane (7-4-2, 10-6-4). If the Bulldogs move on to second round playoffs, they will face Shoreline  Saturday, November 13 on the road.
