The 2009 NWAACC Champion Bellevue College baseball team received their championship rings at Fairwood Country Club this past Monday. The capacity crowd of 110 came out to honor the champions and to reunite with old teammates from last season’s memorable squad. All players and coaches were in attendance for the gala event which featured a prime rib buffet dinner followed by ring presentations and special awards. Bryan Barnes and Lucas Shaw were honored for making All-American Third Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association. The players were presented certificate plaques from the ABCA. 2009 marks the first year that teams and players from the NWAACC have been recognized at a national level. Team Awards were also presented which were voted on by the players last May. Winners included Kirk Wetmore (MVP Pitcher), Keegan Acker (Gold Glove), Cody Edwards (Most Improved), Andrew Stephenson (Paul Villiott Most Inspirational), and Lucas Shaw (MVP, Silver Bat).
