Bellevue College baseball will begin their 09-10 season as defending NWAACC Champions with a challenging fall scrimmage schedule. The Bulldogs, which will feature 17 new players combined with 11 returners, open up their fall scrimmage season five days after their first practice with a doubleheader against the Mariner Cup Fall Team, which features several of the top high school seniors in the northwest. Bellevue will also play North Region rival Skagit Valley, Lower Columbia, and Green River. All three teams were in the final eight at the NWAACC Championships along with Bellevue last May. “Although they are non-counting scrimmages, it will give our incoming players, particularly the hitters, a taste of what’s to come, as Lower Columbia and Green River return not only the majority of their team, but have a handful of pitchers who throw in the upper 80-low 90 mph range. We have scheduled them in the spring as well to prepare our hitters to their fullest,” says Coach Mark Yoshino.
