BULLDOG GOLFERS WIN REGIONAL TITLE; LEE HONORED AS AN ALL-REGION SELECTION

With a 9-1 record, the BCC Men’s Golf team ran away with the Northern Region Championship in 2008, and sophomore standout Richard Lee was singled out as an All-Region performer.

The NWAACC officially announced Bellevue as the regional champions on May 21, after the Bulldogs had backed up their outstanding regular season with a runner-up finish at the NWAACC Championship Tournament, where they fell just one shot shy of champion Walla Walla Community College.

Lee, one of only four golfers from the region selected for All-Region honors, proved himself to be the best of the best at the championships as well, winning the tournament’s individual title by two strokes. It was the second consecutive NWAACC Championship for Lee, who also took home the title in 2007 by a single stroke. Having proven himself to be the top golfer in the NWAACC, Lee will take his talents to the national level next year, having already accepted a scholarship offer to attend the University of Washington.

Bellevue Head Coach Kirk Johanson was voted the NWAACC Coach of the Year for orchestrating the program’s remarkable two-year rise to the competitive elite in the NWAACC. After struggling in their inaugural season, BCC finished 9-1 in 2007-08, tops among Northern Region teams.
