Reporting Processes

As a student, you should know your rights. These rights include ways to address and report concerns.

Report Concerns

Creating and sustaining a safe inclusive environment requires everyone’s help and commitment.

Complaint Resolution

• Grade Dispute Procedures – Bellevue College 3000P procedures described the process to resolve academic issues including misunderstandings, complaints, or grievances with faculty members regarding grades, grading issues, or academic practices and procedures.
• Discrimination Complaint Resolution Procedures It is the policy of Bellevue College to provide a working and learning environment free from discrimination, harassment, or retaliation. For more information, see Bellevue Policy 1440, Bellevue Policy 1460 or the Student Conduct Code.

• Equal Opportunity and Nondiscrimination Policy – The Bellevue College non-discrimination policy protects you and others from discrimination and harassment. To ask questions about our discrimination and harassment policy, contact the Vice President of Human Resources (425-564-2445) or Title IX Coordinator (425-564-2641).

Student Rights

• FERPA – The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) is the Federal law that governs the rights of students and institutional responsibilities with respect to student education records.
• Student Conduct Code – The Student Conduct Code of Bellevue College (WAC 132H-126) outlines the rights and responsibilities of students in the Bellevue College community.  These rights and responsibilities include due process rights, appeal routes and behavior expectations.

Name Change Policies

Students may update their chosen or preferred name on their BC email username and how their name is displayed in other locations. To change a legal name, contact Student Central.

Campus Resources

Bellevue College provides a variety of services for students who report concerns or need support when things don’t go according to plan.  The following offices and services can provide support to students during difficult times.

• Bus and ORCA Plus Program – Did you know that students may be eligible for subsidized bus transportation? ORCA Plus cards can be purchased at the Cashier’s Office (U Building).
• Counseling Center – The Bellevue College Counseling Center offers a variety of free, confidential services to students, including personal counseling, career counseling, educational counseling, and group counseling.
• Disability Resource Center (DRC) – The Disability Resource Center (DRC) works with students, instructors, staff, administration and community contacts to ensure the successful academic endeavors and goals of qualified Bellevue College students with disabilities.
• Neurodiversity Navigators – Neurodiversity Navigators works with students, instructors, staff, administration, and the community to create an accessible and welcoming environment for all neurodivergent people at Bellevue College.
• Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion promotes a pluralistic and diverse campus community. Learn more about Bellevue College’s Institution Commitment and other resources.
• Public Safety – The Public Safety website provides information on safety escorts, emergency procedures, lost and found, Clery statistics, and more.
• Title IX – The Office of Title IX can address student concerns related to sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, gender-identity discrimination, and other actions that fall within the college’s obligations under Title IX. Students can contact Title IX or visit the Title IX Coordinator in C227 for reporting options.
• Withdrawal Information – An official withdrawal requires students to withdraw themselves from a class or classes, online or in person by the seventh week of the quarter.  Medical withdrawals are also available. For more information, visit or contact Student Central.
