WorkFirst Workplace Intensive ESL

Our training program offers students:
  • Basic English in speaking, listening, reading, and writing
  • Basic computer writing skills using keyboarding, word-processing, and email
  • Internet job search skills
  • Preparing for work communication skills
  • Resume and job interview practice

 

Beginning Level

The beginning level of BC ’s WorkFirst Workplace Intensive ESL emphasizes customer service communication for ESL students. Equipped for the Future skills are integrated into the course work to promote job success and retention. The training includes computer basics, internet job search, writing resumes and practicing for job interviews. Students are introduced to basic workplace hiring procedures including cultural differences in getting and keeping work in the U.S.

 

Intermediate Level

The intermediate level of WorkFirst Workplace Intensive ESL stresses job success by building on ability to express oneself in English, listen and follow through on instructions, work with others and request assistance as needed. Students practice written communication techniques using e-mail, internet and word processing tools. Resumes are developed and students practice for job interviews.

 

The WorkFirst Workplace Intensive ESL program is open to all ESL studens in levels 3,4 and 5. You may be eligible for free classes if you are receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
