About WCIT
This web site houses documentation and information
relevant to the National Science Foundation-funded WCIT project.
Funding was initialized July 15, 2001 and expired December 31,
2004.
WCIT is an NSF project funded under the umbrella of the Advanced Technical Education (ATE) Centers for Excellence. ATE projects and centers prepare students to enter the technical workforce by providing a solid foundation for continued higher education through curriculum development support, and the preparation and professional development of college faculty and secondary school teachers.
Endorsed by the presidents of Washington State Community and Technical Colleges (WACTC), this project embodies the collaborative efforts of the state's thirty-four community and technical colleges (represented by Bellevue Community College, Pierce College, Yakima Valley Community College and Renton Technical College), the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC), the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI — K-12) and WashingtonOnline (WAOL). Bellevue Community College (BCC) serves as the fiscal and administrative lead of the project.
Working with the National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET), an Advanced Technology Education Center located on the Bellevue Community College campus, WCIT will address systemic academic reform by providing professional development opportunities for current and potential IT and IT-related instructors.
