TRiO has brand new laptops with some of the best reading
and pronunciation assistance software. If you would like to work
on your reading (speed and comprehension) and pronunciation, this is the
product for you! Check one out for the quarter!
Electronic Text Reading Pens: The Reading Pen Advanced
What is it?
It is a portable, pen-shaped scanner and
language translator speaks the words it scans.
How can it assist me?
Reading in a second language can take more time than reading in your
native language. When you scan a text with a reading pen, it speaks the
words to you; it also gives you the definition of vocabulary.
This tool is designed to increase
reading speed, increase under standing of difficult words, help you
learn English pronunciation, and help with learning to spelling better.
There are a number of tools and resources available to TRiO participants
whose second language is English.
Electronic English to Foreign Language Dictionaries: The 20-Language
Talking Dictionary
What is it? An electronic device that allows you to input vocabulary
and receive a definition in English.
It translates 20
different languages: Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, English, French,
German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Polish,
Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovakian, Spanish, and Turkish.
Access to Audio Textbooks
Access to audio versions of your textbooks chapters at a time! By
hearing the text while reading, not only is comprehension increased, but
pronunciation as well.
