This bronze sculpture, dedicated in 1992, was created by former BCC faculty member and acclaimed Northwest artist, Ray Jensen. The statue depicts the artist's belief that a community college education opens doors to transform lives.

The sculpture is dedicated to the memory of Doris Katz, an inspirational and gifted teacher whose creativity, vision, and dedication helped turn the dream of this sculpture into a reality.

The Doorway was made possible by a matching grant from the Bellevue Arts Commission and generous donations from Ditty Properties, and faculty, staff, and the community.
