Winter Food Drive! Help Our Local Community

Campus Food Drive for Student Food Cabinet

Throughout the month of November Bellevue College clubs and programs are working together to help those in need within our community as we enter the winter season. The Sustainability in Science Association (SSA) coordinated a two-week collection drive specifically to help replenish our campus food pantry. Volunteers spread barrels throughout campus for students and faculty to donate, collecting donations each night and restocking the pantry. For those who aren’t aware of Bellevue College’s campus food pantry; the food pantry provides all varieties of foods for students and faculty who may need it. Having this food pantry stocked means others in our community can have the opportunity to be nourished. This space is open-access for anyone who needs it at any time. The pantry is located on the 2nd floor of the C building near Student Programs. For those who missed out on the SSA’s food drive, don’t worry! Throughout the month of December leading into winter break, BC’s Office of Sustainability is partnering with Peer2Peer, Rotaract Club, and CAB to allow one last opportunity to spread awareness about food security issues that affect students in our community. Volunteers will be spreading colorful boxes throughout campus intended to collect CANNED OR OTHER NON-PERISHABLE FOODS. As an added effort, we are also accepting donations of NEW OR GENTLY USED JACKETS AND SWEATSHIRTS. Protein-rich and easy to prepare foods are the best donations- as they can provide the largest scope of families. The winter months are an important time for giving, and helping others in need throughout our community with many regional food banks seeing their stockpiles of food get picked through around this time. Donations will be used to help local families in need this cold winter. Look for boxes around campus this week and bring in your donations!
