Advisor: Aslam Khan Office Location: D 200C Contact Information: (425) 564-2338 Description: Model United Nations is a program that simulates activities of the United Nations and other international organizations. The simulation takes place at the annual national Model United Nations conference in New York over the course of several days, during which students deliver speeches consistent with their country’s point of view, negotiate with other nations, and write and vote on resolutions in an attempt to find constructive solutions to many of the major issues facing the world. Participants develop a better understanding of international relations, the politics of other nations, and how the United Nations conducts its work. In addition, they examine a variety of issues such as peacekeeping, disarmament, economic development, environmental policy, and human rights, and they consider the impact of political, economic, historical, social and cultural factors on foreign policy and international diplomacy. | BUDGET INFORMATION for year 2012-2013 |
