PROGRAM OR CLUB INFORMATION American Sign Language
Advisor: Rick Mangan Website: http://www.aslsilentvoices.com Description: Our Mission statement: The mission of the American Sign Language program is to extend awareness of Deaf culture to all students, faculty, and throughout the surrounding community. We encourage creating communication ties between Deaf and Hearing people and execute that plan by organizing activities, which provide opportunities for learning, growth, and support in a comfortable environment. Our students are our main priority and we work hard to provide them with every opportunity possible! Program Meetings:every Tuesday morning (9:30-10:30 in room C-211) and Tuesday evenings (7:45-9:00 in room R-101) Every Third Friday at Bellevue Square Starbucks from 7:00 p.m. -10:00 pm. Silent Voices hosts: study groups, game nights, fun outings, guest lectures, workshops parties and much more! We offer students plenty of Deaf contact experiences, tutoring, and support which allow them to develop their ASL skills in a safe environment. We hope you will come join us at all of our events. They are laid back social signing events geared towards all levels of ASL students, from those with no signing experience through 103 students and beyond. Admission is free to children under 12, ASL instructors, Deaf people, and our cherished former club officers. Everyone is welcome at these events, but please leave your voices at home.
